From 2013 to 2018, China's energy consumption on the whole maintained growth, rising from 4.169 billion tons of standard coal in 2013 to 4.640 billion tons of standard coal in 2018.The elasticity coefficient of energy consumption changed in a u-shaped shape, finally falling to 0.13 in 2015, rising continuously for three years from 2016 to 2018, and then back to 0.50 in 2018, indicating that economic development has greatly increased its dependence on the growth of energy consumption.
The report also forecasts energy efficiency targets for 2020.It is estimated that the total energy consumption of China's steel industry will decline year on year in 2020 despite a 0.60% reduction in output.The average comprehensive energy consumption of steel industry is 550 kg of standard coal, down 0.54% year on year.
Li xinchuang, President of the metallurgical industry planning and research institute of China, said the energy conservation work in 2020 should optimize the layout of the steel industry, do a good job of energy conservation assessment, optimize the steel production process structure, carry out the whole process of energy conservation diagnosis, select advanced and applicable energy conservation technology, and integrate energy conservation work with Chinese policies.
